Girls' Night Out

One of the greatest things about living in Seoul is that all of my colleagues, many of whom have become good friends, make their way here throughout the year. Many of them, as well, live here. We met for a dinner in Insadong and it was a lot of fun. We squeezed in a bit of shopping as well (of course).

A central spot for shopping in Insadong is this well-known, multi-level quad. Everything from bedding to jewelry, coffee to textiles to books sold here. We made our way to a wonderful cafe/book shop that I intend to visit again. The interior is very nice and comfortable--a perfect spot for reading. The shop's interior has been featured in the Korean version of BAZAARE magazine.
A beautiful summer evening; another thing I am enjoying about living here. I got really tired of the cold evenings, and many summer days, in the Bay Area. Here, it really IS summer.
Tea, coffee, beverages, and many types of desserts filled the menu. A few of us opted for either green tea patbingsu or old-style patbingsu. Patbingsu is shaved ice mixed with sweetened condensed milk, and red bean paste. There are many different versions with fruit, rice cakes, etc. This cafe's version included a dollop of either vanilla (on my 'old style' binsu) or green tea ice cream on the green tea bingsu, and mixed nuts. Really yummy, and the perfect dessert to cool you down. Hated to part from the group, especially since a couple of the participants are heading back to the States this coming week and it will be a while before I see them again.
