We Miss You Grandfather!!
It's so hard living far apart. We wish we lived right next door to cousins and grandparents, aunts and uncles. This was such a special time for the kids and I am so glad grandfather was able to do this.
If you go on mapmyrun.com (don't need to even register to do this) you can enter your zip code and then log where you run that day. It will give you the exact mileage. If you aren't running to race, the distance isn't really as important as the time, however. I usually estimate that I run around 9 min to a mile when it's cool outside, 10-11 min a mile when it's hot. I have a horrible case of runner's knee right now so I probably won't be doing very much this week.
Don't have a treadmill but am considering getting one for the winter when it's snowy and nasty outside (aren't you glad you don't have to deal with that?) I hear being on a treadmill is not as fun, on the other hand you are less prone to getting injuries since most of the running is flat and it's probably hills galore in San Francisco.
