For Thanksgiving, I roasted a turkey, whipped up my fennel/orange cranberry sauce, prepared sweet potatoes, broccoli casserole, and my mom's fabulous yeast roles, baked pumpkin pies, and we welcomed our friends Rebecca and Jun and their daughter Mary. They drove up from LA for the holiday. The weather was warmer outside than desirable, but I still lit a fire in the fireplace anyway and we ate 'til we could eat no longer. This was the first year, actually, that the kids sat down and watched the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. My sisters and I watched that as kids, so it was cool to see the kids so into it. Over coffee, juice, and pancakes in the morning, it was a lot of fun watching the different floats. The highlight of the day, of course, was spending it all together and sharing food and conversation with friends.
